Hialeah, Fla. — Today, the Manny Diaz Campaign announced the endorsements of several female elected officials in the Miami-Dade area. Ana Maria Rodriguez, City of Doral Councilmember; Vivan Casáls-Muñoz, City of Hialeah Councilwoman; and Susie Castillo, Miami-Dade School Board member are all backing Diaz’s re-election bid. He was first elected to the District 103 seat in the Florida House of Representatives in 2012.

“I am proud to support Manny Diaz for re-election,” said Casáls-Muñoz. “He has been a tireless advocate for our business community and our schools, and I look forward to continuing to work with him on behalf of Hialeah residents.”

Casáls-Muñoz has served on the City of Hialeah Council since 2006. She has served on the Hialeah Planning and Zoning Board, the Historic Preservation Board and the Business and Economic Advisory Committee. An involved parent at her children’s schools for many years, she served on the Board of Educational Excellence School Advisory Council and has participated in the Miami-Dade Public Schools Listener Program. She owns and operates a title company in Hialeah.

“It is very important that we send Manny Diaz back to Tallahassee,” said Castillo. “We need his experience and commitment to making needed reforms to our education system in order to give every child in Florida the best opportunity to live up to his or her potential. I am excited to support him, and I am excited about his continuing leadership in our area.”

Elected in 2012, Castillo represents District 5 on the Miami-Dade County School Board. She served in the Miami-Dade school system for over 20 years as a teacher and administrator. She was also Special Assistant to the first mayor of the City of Doral for over eight years. Currently, Castillo serves as the School Board’s representative on the Miami-Dade County League of Cities.

“Manny Diaz has been a strong voice for our area in Tallahassee,” said Rodriguez. “We need him to continue working to improve our education system and support free market policies that will make our economy stronger.”

Rodriguez was elected to the City of Doral Council in 2010 and re-elected without opposition in 2014. She works as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Miami Association of REALTORS. She has been an active member of the Doral Business Council for over a decade and serves on the boards of the Coral Gables Community Foundation and the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind YPOL Group.

“I am honored to have the support of all three of these great leaders,” said Diaz. “They are outstanding public servants, and I look forward to continuing the successful partnership we have built to make sure that we have a vibrant economy with increased job creation and an outstanding education system.”
